Halloween Howl
As part of our Active School Plan, the children all took part in a treasure hunt of Bodyke village, looking for Halloween inspired clues and carrying out the activity that best matched each clue. The children had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed their hunt.
At Lunch-time the children continued to practice their hopping and jumping for distance over hurdles. While in the Junior Room the children were engaged in a Halloween dance.
Great participation for all involved!!!
Happy Halloween!
School Physical Education
For the months of September and October our school has focused on Athletics and the new Fundamental Movement scheme of jumping and throwing. We have incorporated jumping for distance in our 3 laps after break.
Active Athletics!
We have been covering the Athletics Strand of the PE Curriculum. We really enjoyed using the hurdles as part of our PE lesson. We are concentrating on improving our running technique also. Remember “Head up, Pump you Arms, High Knees!!”
Our Active School Committee
Our Active School Committee consists of Sarah Wiley and Desmond Nolan.
Both children have shown great leadership in their roles in assisting the younger children in introducing our “Games of the month”. They are in charge in introducing new activities to the school and monitoring the shed and yard at break-times.
Bodyke Sporting “Hall of Fame”
Our school welcomes any photos of any sporting achievements that the children have received outside of the school day.
Photos shall be added to our school “Hall of Fame”.
Bodyke’s Active School Motto
Our Motto was decided by unanimous vote in the Senior Room.
“60 minutes a day keeps laziness at bay!!”
Our school hopes to achieve our goal of 60 minutes a day physical activity both inside and outside of school hours.
Fitness Friday
Our school had great fun beating the teachers at penalty shoot outs. Teacher s will be practicing during the school year to ensure this defeat will not occur again.
Finally as European Sports week comes to a close, we are delighted to reveal that Bodyke reached Cardiff through our run around the school competition. We reached 581KM!!!
Great effort from all the pupils!!
Team work Thursday
Due to the bad weather on Thursday Team work Thursday was postponed. We managed to complete some team work games at small break on Friday instead.
Wiggle it Wednesday formerly “Walk on Wednesday”
Unfortunately due to the bad weather today. Our walk from the church to the school was cancelled. As the children stayed in all day, we changed the name of the day to “Wiggle it Wednesday” where children performed their dance moves during break-time.
Try It Tuesday

Today our school received a visit from Graham of the MidWest Taekwondo Club. We learnt a number of skills in the practice of Taekwondo. Ryan demonstrated some of his knowledge and we learnt how to perform high kicks. We discovered that Taekwondo originated from Korea and promotes skills such as courtesy, integrity, perseverance and self-control.
Big Thanks to Graham www.facebook.com/MidwestTaekwondo.Clare for his time and effort with the children
The children are still hoping to complete their laps before Friday to reach London!!
Move It Monday
Today our School engaged in “Move it Monday”. Our Active School Committee rang a bell Mid Morning and in the afternoon, where all the children had to abandon their work and congregate in the School Yard. There, the children moved actively to the Music set up in the yard. Both teachers and students all loved this Activity Break.
Our Active School Committee were also busy counting the number of laps done by the school each day. One lap = 1km, we are hoping to reach London by Friday! See all details below
We are celebrating the European Week of Sport again this year with lots of fun activities for the children to take part in.
Monday is Move it Monday. All classes drop everything and move to music in the yard.
Tuesday is Try it Tuesday. We are delighted to welcome Graham who will be leading the school in a Taekwondo taster.
Wednesday is Walk on Wednesday. We hope the whole school will join us as we walk to school from the church.
Thursday is Teamwork Thursday. Everyone will take part in co-operative relays and games during their breaks.
Friday is Take on the Teachers day. Pupils and teachers compete in various challenges.
We are looking forward to a fun filled week of sport
